In Dajabón, the Army mobilized with heavy weapons in the early hours of the morning towards the border area and returned to the barracks in the course of the afternoon, but the supervision operations of the troops continued moving in vans and motorcycles between the towns of Manzanillo, Dajabón, Santiago de la Cruz, Loma de Cabrera, Restauración and Capotillo, as confirmed by local correspondent Javier Nicolás Genao.

While the Dajabón border market was closed by order of the local mayor, but later it was opened to the public and was operating until after 5:00 in the afternoon, as reported.

While in Pedernales, security was also reinforced with troops from the Dominican Republic Navy and Army moving through the streets of the city and the border area in the face of any act that alters public order, reported correspondent Julio Gómez.

The Minister of Defense, Lieutenant General Carlos Luciano Díaz Morfa, ordered increased security on the border after an incident that occurred at the facilities of the CODEVI free zone, on Thursday in Dajabón province.

But, Díaz Morfa clarified that “something happened was on the Haitian side, not on the Dominican side” and added that there is no information that Haitian gangs have operated in the place, the border is calm.
