Santo Domingo.– The Ministry of Culture announced the suspension of all activities scheduled today, Friday, September 26, within the framework of the INTERNATIONAL BOOK FAIR SANTO DOMINGO 2025 (FILSD 2025) Due to the atmospheric conditions that affect the country, the measure responds to the red alert issued by the Emergency Operations Center (COE) before the incidence of a tropical disturbance that has caused intense rains in the area of Santo Domingo.
This preventive decision seeks to guarantee the safety of the thousands of visitors, exhibitors, writers and organization personnel who meet in the Juan Pablo Duarte Culture Square for this great literary event.
The FILSD 2025, which pays tribute to the historian Frank Moya Pons and has as a guest of honor to the network of literary fairs and festivals in Latin America, will resume its programming of more than 600 activities as soon as the climatic conditions allow it. The event is expected to continue with total normality once the risk has been exceeded, reaffirming its status as the main literary event in the country.
The Ministry of Culture urges citizens to stay informed through the official channels of the institution and social networks of the Fair, where updates on the reopening of the Plaza de la Cultura will be published.
The event held its inaugural act yesterday, which was headed by the vice president of the Republic, Raquel Peña, together with the Minister of Culture, Roberto Ángel Salcedo, and the mayor of the National District, Carolina Mejía.
