Book Fair changes date of completion;  the reasons are unknown

International Book Day, which is celebrated every April 23, usually marks between the months of April and May the realization of the Santo Domingo International Book Fairan activity aimed at encouraging interest in reading.

However, this year the traditional date of celebration of the cultural and artistic event has been changed, to take place between the months of August and September 2023.

The disposition was informed by the culture Ministryindicating that the twenty-fifth edition of the Fair will take place from August 24 to conclude on September 3, without further details of the reasons that motivated the change.

This version of the Santo Domingo International Book Fair will be the second to be held in person after the Covid-19 pandemic, which forced the event to be suspended in 2020 and held virtually in 2021.

Return to the Plaza de la Cultura

On the other hand, despite the fact that last year the Fair was held in the Colonial City, and classified as a resounding success, this year the Ministry of Culture has also decided to return it to its previous setting.

In this sense, he reported that the activity will take place this 2023 in the recently remodeled Plaza de la Cultura Juan Pablo Duarte, where the most important museums and artistic and cultural institutions of Santo Domingo are located.
