The choice of Cesar Aguilar Surichaquithe Government’s candidate to be the new comptroller, advances in Congress after the approval of his nomination in the subcommittee responsible of evaluating it, with 7 votes in favor, one against and one abstentionThe Standing Committee is expected to meet next Wednesday, 24th, to discuss the proposal.

Aguilar Surichaqui is a Lawyer with a master’s degree in administrationa graduate of the private universities San Martín de Porres in undergraduate and Catholic in postgraduate. In addition, he has pursued master’s studies in civil, commercial, constitutional and Specializations in administrative lawstate contracts and arbitration.
His professional career focuses on the management of administrative and judicial processes.
He started as a lawyer for private organizations in the late nineties and then moved to the State almost at the beginning of this century: the Ministry of Labor in the team of the Attorney General’s Office first and the Supreme Court of Justice in the Transitional Civil Chamber later. Then he intersperses the private sector with the Lima North Court where he collaborates with the judicial administration.
He was appointed substitute first instance judge in Callao in 2009 by Cesar Hinostroza when he presided over this court, although he assures that he did not have any further relationship with him.
Between 2013 and 2017 he managed his own consulting firm Aguilar and Mota AssociatesAs a professional, he has provided services to a health network, the Ministry of Health and later to the Comptroller’s Office.
Since 2006, it is Member of the High Court of Administrative Responsibilitiesof this Comptroller’s Office, which he chaired three times, and where he currently heads a chamber.
In addition, it is teacher at the Universities of Applied Sciences (UPC) and the Pacific.
He has had several lawsuits for various casesaccording to the report that reached Congress. Almost all of them have ended with their acquittal. and a few are in process.
Aguilar Surichaqui is the Government’s second candidate for the post of comptroller, after Parliament rejected his first candidate: Pedro Cartolinwho when he was a judge had given a ruling in favor of Cesar Acuñaconsidered an ally of the Executive, and which had as He marries a former parliamentary candidate for his partyAlliance for Progress (APP).

The subcommittee that evaluated the candidacy, chaired by Alejandro Cavero (Advance Country)approved his nomination by a majority, after a brief impasse over the report.
They voted in favor of the candidate Cavero, Eduardo Castillo (Popular Force), Jorge Coayla (not grouped), José Cueto (Honor and Democracy), Elva Julón (APP), Esdras Medina (Popular Renewal), Álex Paredes (Teachers’ Block), Kelly Portalatino (Free Peru). Against Hector Valer (We are Peru) voted and Elvis Vergara (Popular Action) abstained.
Valer presented a minority report against the nomination of Aguilar Surichaqui.
