Former United States National Security Advisor, John Bolton, regretted that the planned coup against Venezuela has not materialized.
“History is going to reveal that it is a mistake that Juan Guaidó could not achieve this coup and that the United States could not do more to achieve this coup. What he did was protect interests and those of the interested countries”, he declared to the W Radio of Colombia.
He also said that it is a “tragedy” that the Venezuelan opposition’s attempts to overthrow the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, have failed.
“The Venezuelan opposition was the one leading this coup and it is a tragedy that the opposition’s 2019 attempts to dethrone Maduro have failed,” Bolton said.
Bolton last week confessed to planning the attack on the country.
It is worth noting that according to a study by the Cline Center of the University of Illinois published in a column by The Washington Post as a result of Bolton’s statements, it states that from 1982 to 2019, the United States participated in 350 attempted coups, of which which were successful 150.
The reason is oil.
The permanent representative ambassador of Venezuela to the United Nations, Samuel Moncada, after John Bolton’s statements, assured that coups are methods of expanding the interests of the United States, “everything else is propaganda.”
He explained that the coups against Venezuela “are motivated by oil, the coup for freedom is a toxic invention of United States propaganda.”
Moncada indicated that, with the attempted coups against the country, added to the package of sanctions induced by the US, “dozens of countries suffer from the illegal prohibitions imposed by the US government and Europe in international markets. They are acts of extortion that extract benefits for the dominant economies at the cost of the suffering of the majority of humanity.
