The president of Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro, remained in Brasilia – at the beginning of this Monday – without even receiving his closest allies, hours after the electoral authority reported that he had been irreversibly defeated in the ballot, local press reported. .

Former president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva defeated him with 50.90% to 49.10% of the valid votes with 99.99% of the scrutiny completed, according to data disclosed by the Superior Electoral Tribunal (TSE) on its website.

About three hours after his defeat was officially confirmed at the polls, Bolsonaro had made no statement and had not wanted to receive his closest allies.according to parliamentary sources close to the president quoted by the newspaper O Globo.

Ministers and deputies who tried to visit him at the official residence in Brasilia were told that the president did not want to see anyone.
