Former president Jair Bolsonaro fell while walking and suffered a mild head injury, doctor Brasil Caiado reported this Wednesday (7). He is one of the professionals who assists the former president. Bolsonaro returned to the DF Star Hospital, in Brasília, after authorization granted by the minister of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) Alexandre de Moraesso that he could leave his cell at the Federal Police Superintendence (PF) where he is serving a 27-year prison sentence for an attempted coup d’état.
“In the early hours of yesterday[terça-feira]the president suffered a fall inside his superintendence room. Initially, we thought it was a fall from the bed, but later, talking to him, remembering facts, this leads us to believe that he got up, tried to walk and fell”, the doctor told journalists.
Bolsonaro took tests and has already returned to the PF Superintendency, which is a few kilometers from the private hospital.
A bulletin released by DF Star confirmed the mild head trauma, with no indication of any more complex intervention.
“Slight densification of soft tissues in the frontal and right temporal region was evidenced in the imaging exams, resulting from the trauma, without the need for therapeutic intervention. Clinical care must be followed as defined by the attending medical team”, says the text signed by general surgeon Claudio Birolini.
According to doctor Brasil Caiado, Bolsonaro’s fall in the room could be due to disorientation caused by the interaction between different medications.
“There is an initial suspicion, and we had already imagined, that it could be the interaction of medications. The president uses several medications to treat the hiccups. If these conditions are recurrent, they place the president in a greater risk zone”, he explained.
Less than a week ago, Bolsonaro had been discharged from the same hospital, where he was hospitalized for 8 days, where he underwent a bilateral inguinal hernia surgeryfollowed by others procedures to contain hiccups.
