Jair Bolsonaro’s private doctors reported that the former president underwent new surgery this Saturday (27) after experiencing a severe bout of hiccups. According to doctors, Bolsonaro is already in his room and recovering from the procedure.
Bolsonaro went through a right side phrenic nerve block procedureresponsible for controlling the diaphragm. The surgery seeks to alleviate the former president’s symptoms of permanent hiccups.
According to doctor Mateus Saldanha, the former president will be monitored daily to check whether the procedure was successful to ease the hiccups.
“The entire procedure lasted about an hour. The procedure was very quick. There was no cutting. Very quick execution”, he stated.
Bolsonaro’s doctors also stated that Bolsonaro must undergo a new procedure next Monday (29)when the left side of the phrenic nerve will be treated.
Professionals also maintained the discharge forecast for December 31st.
On Thursday (25), Bolsonaro underwent another surgery to treat an inguinal hernia.
The former president was authorized by Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), to leave the Federal Police Superintendency, in Brasília, where he is serving a sentence of 27 years and three months in prison for his conviction for the coup plot.
