The candidate for re-election to the Presidency of the Republic by the PL, Jair Bolsonaro, participated today (2) in a ceremony at the 45th Expointer, in the municipality of Esteio, in Rio Grande do Sul. During the event, he highlighted the importance of the work of farmers.
“To all of you, the agro at Expointer, our recognition for your work, [que garante] food security, foreign exchange for our country”, he said. “We modestly do our work in Brasília, collaborating with you. We increasingly want you to have independence from the Executive and more and more freedom to work and produce for our homeland”, he added.
The president also spoke about the policy of easing access to firearms in the country and expanding gun ownership to the entire length of a rural property.
“We did little, but we did what we could, today you have a reality that is the possession and carrying of a weapon extended to the rural man. We proudly double the number of CACs [caçadores, atiradores e colecionadores] in Brazil. Today we are 700 thousand CACs in Brazil. Firearms, more than family security, the certainty that this homeland will never be enslaved,” he said in his speech.
In a conversation with journalists, the president spoke about the current phase of the Brazilian economy, which, according to him, has been recovering, after two years of crisis due to the global pandemic. “Brazil is doing very well before the world. Internally, we are already in a better situation than pre-pandemic. This is due to measures taken back then. The Economic Freedom Act, a cleanup in regulatory standards, debureaucratization, we are the seventh most digital country in the world.”
Bolsonaro also highlighted that gasoline prices have been falling after consecutive highs. “It is the fourth reduction made by Petrobras. We had the support of [Arthur] Lira, president of the Chamber, putting a ceiling on ICMS. Each state put the percentage it wanted. Up to 17 states, between 2020 and 2021, were increasing their percentage, when people were losing their income,” she said.
The fair is being held at the Parque Estadual de Exposições Assis Brasil. Bolsonaro watched the parade of the animals awarded in the competitions of the agricultural fair and greeted supporters.
