The defenses of Former President Jair Bolsonaro and six allies have until next Wednesday (13) to deliver to the Supreme Court (STF) the final allegations in the coup plot. The allegations represent the last statement of the defendants before the trial that may condemn or acquit the accused.

After the allegations, the Minister Alexandre de Moraes shall release for the trial of the criminal action regarding core 1 of the complaint filed against Bolsonaro and his allies.

It will be up to the president of the first class of the Court, Minister Cristiano Zanin to set a date of the trial.

The trial is expected to decide on the conviction or acquittal of the accused will take place in September.

In addition to Alexandre de Moraes, the board is formed by the ministers Flávio Dino, Cristiano Zanin, Cármen Lúcia and Luiz Fux.

Defendants are responsible for crimes of armed criminal organization, attempted violent abolition of the democratic rule of law, coup d’état, damage qualified by violence and serious threat and deterioration of listed assets.

In case of conviction, penalties may exceed 30 years in prison.

In case of conviction, the Defendants should not be in ordinary prisons. Army officers are entitled to special arrest, according to the Code of Criminal Procedure (CPP).
