Bolsonaro is discharged after spending the night hospitalized for discomfort

Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro left the Armed Forces hospital in Brasilia on Tuesday morning after proast overnight admitted due to new discomfort related to stab wound to abdomen which he received in 2018.

“Good morning with excellent news. The President was discharged and is super well,” wrote Fábio Fariahead of Communications, on his Twitter account.

Shortly after leaving the hospital, the president It showed itself on Tuesday in a good mood in videos posted on social networks, He kept his official schedule with a trip to another state and said he was “ready for combat.”

Bolsonaro released a video alongside the Minister of Agriculture, Tereza Cristina, in which, making a joke, he announced his trip to Ponta Porã, a municipality in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul (south) and omitted his hospitalization.

“The president is like new here,” Faria assured, in another video published shortly before.

After discharge, Bolsonaro traveled to Ponta Porã accompanied by Faria and the Minister of Agriculture to deliver property titles and announce the installation of 5G connection.

Consequences of the attack

The far-right president, 67, had been hospitalized on Monday for medical testsaccording to the federal deputy Marcos Pereira during a ceremony on Monday night in which the president was expected and could not appear.

So far, the Planalto Palace has not released any medical bulletin. The presidential communication secretariat did not respond to various requests for information from AFP about the president’s health.

Flavio Bolsonaro, son of the president and senator, said on Monday that the “consequences of the attempted murder” continue to bring disorders to the father’s health.

Bolsonaro has suffered various complications as a result of the stab wound he received in 2018, when he was attacked in the middle of the crowd during a street campaign rally in the state of Minas Gerais (southeast), before the elections in which he was elected president.

The ruler went through at least four surgeries, including the placement and subsequent removal of a colostomy bag, which made him more prone to intestinal disorders.

In January, Bolsonaro was hospitalized for two days in Sao Paulo for an intestinal obstruction. At that time, the medical team that has followed the president since 2018 said that the problem had been caused by a poorly chewed shrimp and ruled out further surgery.

The president aspires to re-election in the elections next October, in which he will most likely face leftist former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (2003-2010).

According to a survey published last week by the consulting firm Datafolha, Bolsonaro would lose the elections in the second round with 34% of the vote, compared to 55% for Lula.
