The case, which was brought to light by the press, led to the opening of an investigation by the Federal Police, while the Court of Accounts asked Bolsonaro to hand over the two packages of jewelry in his possession.

The former president’s lawyers, who ensure that Bolsonaro did not commit any illegality, two weeks ago delivered the first of the packages of jewels, valued at $75,000, and this Tuesday they went to a public bank to deposit the other set of precious objects, valued at $100,000.

The most expensive set of jewels, valued at 3.2 million dollars, was confiscated by the tax authorities at the Guarulhos international airport in Sao Paulo, after finding them in the backpack of an adviser who was part of the delegation and observing that they had not been declared.

Bolsonaro tried several times, through emissaries, to release these diamond gifts before the end of his term, but was unsuccessful.

The former president arrived at the Police headquarters in Brasilia in a car with dark windows, in the presence of numerous journalists and two of his followers.
