The candidate for re-election to the Presidency of the Republic, Jair Bolsonaro, urged his supporters to focus on the second round of the campaign. He addressed his constituents via social media.
“Stay focused! One of the main and most difficult goals was achieved yesterday. We already have what it takes to free Brazil from authoritarianism, blackmail and the injustice that makes us so angry. The most profound change in the country has begun! It is not the people that should fear”, said the president, on Monday afternoon (3).
In the early hours of the morning, Bolsonaro published that his opponents had only prepared for a 100-meter race, while he was ready for a marathon: “We will fight with confidence and with increasing strength, certain that we will prevail for the country, for the family, for life, for freedom and for the will of God!”.
The president declared that he knew the size of his responsibility and the challenges he will face in the coming weeks, but he expressed optimism about emerging victorious.
“We know where we want to go and how we’re going to get there. By the grace of God, I have never lost an election and I know that it will not be now, when the freedom of all Brazil depends on us, that we will lose.”
Bolsonaro also celebrated the increase in his vote in this first round, much higher than what he had obtained in the 2018 elections. almost 2 million votes more! We also elected the largest benches in the House and Senate, which was our top priority at this first moment.”
