The Minister of Social Development (MDS), Wellington Dias, said this Monday (20) that the ministry will speed up the payment of Bolsa Família for victims of the storms on the north coast of São Paulo.
“To make it easier for families, the March payment will be unified, made on the 20th for all families in the municipalities affected and with an emergency and calamity decree”, said the minister.
Dias stated that an Army aircraft will take donations to the victims. According to the minister, the ministry is in contact with municipal and social leaders to arrange for the delivery of food baskets, mattresses and other needs in social assistance.
“I have now reached an agreement with Brigadeiro Heraldo to make an aircraft available for the transport, from the capital São Paulo to São Sebastião and region, of food, mattresses, sheets, diapers and drinking water, acquired in partnership between the MDS and the Central Única das Favelas (CUFA )”, said Wellington Dias.
The government of São Paulo declared a state of public calamity, for 180 days, for emergency actions in six municipalities affected by the rains: Bertioga, Caraguatatuba, Guarujá, Ilha Bela, São Sebastião and Ubatuba.

In the bulletin released earlier this Monday afternoon, more than 1,730 people remain homeless and another 766 remain homeless throughout the state of São Paulo, victims of the heavy rains that hit the north coast over the weekend. Until now, 36 deaths were confirmed, 35 in São Sebastião and one in Ubatuba. The information was disclosed earlier this Monday afternoon (20), by the state government.
The São Paulo Health Secretariat reported that 13 adults and five children who were victims of the rains are being treated at the North Coast Regional Hospital. Of this total, five are in serious condition, 11 stable and two were discharged.
