For World Group II of the Davis Cup, the Bolivian tennis team lost against Thailand 3-1 and relegated to the Play-Offs, this Saturday. The only match that La Verde won was in the doubles modality with Federico Zeballos and Boris Arias.

The matches were played on the center court of the Lawns Tennis Association of Thailand, in the city of Bangkok.

Bolivia reached the second day at a disadvantage (2-0), since on Friday Zeballos and Murkel Dellien had lost their singles matches; therefore, our representatives were required to win all three Saturday matches to advance to the World Group I Play-Offs.

The day began with the doubles match in which Zeballos and Arias prevailed Thantub Suksumrarn and Pruchya Isaro, 6-4, 6-4.

On aggregate things were 2-1 and then it was Dellien’s turn, who competed against Kasidit Samrej. The Bolivian had to win to force the fifth and final match, but he could not and was defeated 5-7, 6-2, 6-1. With 3-1 against, Bolivia went down to the Play-Offs of World Group II.

The low felt in the Bolivian team was Hugo Dellien, who was not part of the national team because he is recovering from an injury. Beniano is the best tennis player in our country and is ranked number 78 in the ranking of the Association of Professional Tennis Players (ATP).
