Bolivia recorded 226 deaths as a result of Acute Respiratory Infections (ARI) and pneumonia, reported this Monday Jeyson Auza, Minister of Health and Sports.
The authority explained that 170 deceased correspond to people over 60 years of age; 45 to patients between 21 and 59 years; seven, between 10 and 20 years; two, between five and nine years; and two other deaths in children under one year of age.
Thus, Bolivia continues with six of its nine departments with epidemic behavior due to ARI.
“Only Santa Cruz, Tarija and Oruro are not in an epidemic situation”, Auza specified in a conference given from the city of Sucre.
So far in the 2023 administration, the country registered 1,404,622 casesfar exceeding what happened in a similar period of analysis in 2022, when 1,054,405 cases were registered.
But despite this general situation, according to official data from the Ministry of Health, in epidemiological week 18 there was “a marked decrease in Acute Respiratory Infections.”
That is, in epidemiological week 18, 103,667 cases were registered and in week 17, 134,622 cases.
But this It does not mean that it is going to start a period of descent of the number of cases of infections.
“Due to the change in climate, due to the winter season, it is very possible that at any moment the cases could rise again,” Auza warned.
Meanwhile, the Government has even extended the vaccination of minors against influenza up to 12 years of age.
In this sense, we also “want to announce that we will begin with 1,000 doctors and nurses a deployment of brigades in schools in different cities for vaccination against influenza,” said Auza.
