According to official data from the state oil company’s SCADA, on November 2, 3.2 million cubic meters per day (MMm3/d) of natural gas was shipped and a day later 2.9 MMm3/d were exported.
Yesterday, 1.5 million cubic meters per day (MMm3d) were shipped and it is possible that this average amount will continue until Saturday.
YPFB sends natural gas to the neighboring country under the modality of an interruptible contract with Energía Argentina (Enarsa) that ends on December 31 of this year.
The information was confirmed by the Director of Contracts of the state oil company, Julio César Solíz, in a virtual event on October 17 with representatives of the Argentine operating companies that are interested in exporting gas from Vaca Muerta to Brazil through the gas pipelines in Bolivia.
“The firm supply ended in September of this year, but from now until the end of the year the contract is still valid and there is the possibility of making shipments under the interruptible modality,” said Solíz.
Despite the conclusion of the reversal of the Northern Gasduct in Argentina, Enarsa requested Bolivian gas from YPFB to cover the demand in the Northwestern provinces.
In that country it was revealed that the pipeline inaugurated in La Carlota (Córdoba) on November 4 could operate in December once the stages and connections for the transportation of gas from Vaca Muerta are completed.
Added to this is the installation of a bidirectional meter to enable its operation and which Enarsa has not yet put out to tender for its acquisition.
Javier Milei’s government has the challenge of covering the demand for natural gas in seven provinces in the Argentine Northwest and exporting it to the Brazilian market using Bolivian pipelines.
“To date there are several operators in Argentina and aggregation and transportation contracts are being negotiated. The transportation rate is the one that currently governs external market concessions and is approved by the ANH”; said the Minister of Hydrocarbons and Energy, Alejandro Gallardo.
He added that the Aggregation price, which is the other component of the new business, is the one that YPFB will charge.
