Bolivia orders the expulsion of Cuban activist Magdiel Jorge Castro for his denunciations of the island’s regime

MADRID, Spain.- The Cuban human rights activist Magdiel Jorge Castro received an expulsion order from Bolivia, the country where he legally resides, for his denunciations on social networks about the situation in Cuba.

Subpoenaed by the Migration office of Santa Cruz de la Sierra, where he resides, he was given the expulsion order for three years, which he must comply with in 15 days and he has three business days to file an appeal.

Speaking to CubaNet Magdiel Jorge Castro specified that the reason is his activism on social networks against the Cuban dictatorship and the human rights violations that occur in Cuba.

In addition, he explained that when he was summoned they showed him a file with all his publications on the networks, even from State Security in Cuba.

Jorge Castro clarified in his conversation with this medium that his activism is aimed at democracy in Cuba, and there is nothing referring to it in your posts to the internal affairs of Bolivia. Just as he insisted that during his entire time in Bolivia he has complied with all immigration laws.

“I have not even had a ticket from the police. This is a purely political case, ”he points out in this regard.

When doing the complaint of this fact through social networks, the opponent considered that it is shameful that the state of Bolivia uses its public offices to grant Havana the right to expel a citizen, for their political opinions.

“It is absolutely embarrassing with Bolivian democracy that a space such as the National Emigration Office is used for the Cuban government to restrict the freedom of expression of its citizens abroad through expulsions,” he denounced.

Just as he pointed out that it is extremely serious, and creates a disastrous precedent, that democratic countries in the region are used by the armed wing of State Security.

Regarding the island’s regime, he said: “What a shame that it fears the voice of a young Cuban who expresses himself on Twitter.”
