The Minister of Health and Sports, Jeyson Auza, said that these oxygen concentrator equipment and high-flow generator systems, among others, are delivered throughout the country.
The premise is that people do not have to be admitted to intensive care rooms because of the coronavirus and in this way minimize the fatality rate. For this, there is a strategy that was applied in the fourth wave, which is Active Epidemiological Surveillance, timely diagnosis, vaccination and coordination with subnational governments.
“More than 400 pieces of equipment will be delivered throughout the countrytoday we make the official delivery to the department of La Paz and thus we will go department by department”, said the authority in a ceremony held in La Paz.
He explained that 60 oxygen concentrators were delivered to La Paz for two simultaneous patients, 20 high-flow generator systems and 3,345 masks for these modern equipment that are easy to transportessential for the treatment of patients with covid-19.
“Again I make a request and a call to responsibility to the entire Bolivian population. First to follow with the same strategy. Today is not the time for confrontation, Now, when we are in the fifth wave, it is time to join forces again because we have a common enemy, which is the death that covid-19 has brought,” he said.
These teams are essential for the treatment of insufficiency respiratory both acute and chronic, which is common in patients with covid-19. “This equipment helps us prevent hypoxemia, treat pulmonary hypertension and reduce respiratory and myocardial work,” he explained.
Last Sunday, the minister declared the beginning of the fifth wave of infectionsafter registering the increase in cases for four consecutive weeks.
He insisted that the population must maintain biosecurity measures and go to the vaccination for the application of the corresponding dose.
“If after this winter season we have the same or better results than the fourth wave, we can say that we have definitively defeated the pandemic, but that we will only achieve it if we all work together”, Auza said.
