The percentage of employees stressed daily in Latin America reached 44% this year, rising 3 points compared to the previous report and exceeding the global average for 2024 of 41%, according to the State of the Global Workplace: 2024 Report, published by the consulting firm Gallup.
This percentage arises from a consultation with some 128,000 workers, in the region about the emotions experienced during much of the previous day at work.
In addition to stress, 14% admitted having felt anger, 20% sadness and 13% loneliness. Despite this, Latin America had the lowest regional percentage of employees who experience anger on a daily basis (the global average was 21%).
According to data from the Gallup consulting firm, Bolivian workers, with 55%, are the ones who experience the most stress daily, followed by the Dominican Republic and Costa Rica, with 51%; Ecuador, with 50%; the same as El Salvador; In Peru, 48% reported feeling strong stress at work; in Brazil and Uruguay the percentage reached 46%; and in Argentina and Venezuela, 45%.
In the case of Latin American workers who They experienced daily sadness in their workplaces, Bolivia, with 32%, heads the listfollowed by El Salvador and Jamaica with 26%; Brazil, Ecuador and Peru, with 25%; Nicaragua, with 24%; Dominican Republic and Venezuela, with 23%; and Argentina, with 22%.
Regarding the anger experienced in your job, our country is again first, with Bolivia: 25%, followed closely by Jamaica, with 24%; Peru, with 19%; Brazil, with 18%; Ecuador, with 17%; Colombia, El Salvador and Guatemala with 16% and Nicaragua and Costa Rica, with 15%.
Regarding employee commitment, the survey shows that 32% of those consulted in Latin America express being committed, 58% said they were not engaged and 10% said they were actively disengaged.
The region has the second highest regional percentage of engaged employees in the world, being surpassed only by the United States and Canada.
Gallup estimates that Low employee engagement costs the global economy $8.9 billion or 9% of world GDP.
Regarding the work environment and the intention to have new opportunities, 61% indicated that it is a good time to find a job and 40% expressed that they are looking for a new job in Latin America.
