Trump, Milei and Musk are the alter ego of many in the world. They are fashionable, they are worldwide trend and, above all, they have economic, political and technological power: they know what they want. Now, in Bolivia we don’t know what we want (neither the left nor to the right). That is our big sociological problem that will soon turn 200. Problem that inhibits the possibility of having institutional stability, management of political emotions, economic growth and technological advancement. It is sad because they are the symptoms of the fraud of the MAS and some opponents that were government. We are a country without purpose.
Luis Arce is an opportunist. Taking advantage of the beginning of the celebrations for the Bicentennial, it raises a social pact. Late because he has a few months left, many unsolved problems, decreased social support, external and internal enemies, and a technically mediocre and politically ineffective work team. Walk between anger, disappointment and despair of people. On the street of bitterness.
For their part, the different opponents raise everything according to the tastes, desires and emotions of the people. They are in search of the magical potion to enchant voters. He who has and have a better strategy and meets it disciplinedly, may win the main prize. However, if they only make noise and do not meet the strategic steps, their future is defeat.
People want them to solve the problems of the square meter they inhabit. So that the citizen’s personal want is consistent with believing in the voter’s electoral proposal, that he feels represented by someone with whom he identifies and is connected with his material interest, the candidates (opponents) have to do a great job connection and close communication. Although the winds blow in favor of the alternative and against continuity, they continue to sleep the long nap and work on piece. They do not connect or between them.
Pre -electoral agreements advance in a turtle pace, as if the candidates to govern in the town’s great house had all the time in the world. They have not changed political mentality: they are still slow and dubitative, although political times demand faster and faster, and less parsimony and political calculation. People want to distance themselves from poverty and caress wealth, although it implies sacrificing democracy. It is worrisome because any monster can come alive in the name of socioeconomic citizenship and at the expense of political citizenship.
However, a change of public policies (fiscal, energy, health, taxes, education, among others) urges. Inflation, the increase of the dollar, the irregular redistribution of fuels, uncontrollable corruption, the internal dispute of the MAS, the institutional involution of the Judiciary, the ideological implosion of the story of the change process, among other factors, have generated socio -economic conditions and policies to boost a turn (to the right?) In the direction of the State and society.
The Bicentennial arrives with a negative mood in citizens. There is no joy, there is anger. There is no certainty, there are doubts. A restart is needed, not a return.
These are times of skinny cows, poor ideas and negative feelings. However, it is possible to kick the board from below, choose the opponent with greater strategic capacity and tactical deployment, demand new rules and start strengthening a new political mentality to start overcoming that sociological problem that we suffered for 200 years, which has paralyzed us politically and ideologically idiotized, which has denied us to have an existential purpose.
