Bolívar is coming off a very good start to the season. In the regular league, the Celestes accumulate three defeats, with a win against Blooming, and one defeat. In the previous knockout round of the Copa Libertadores, they managed to beat Deportivo Lara in their two matches (2-3 and 4-0 respectively). However, the Celestes come to this match after conceding their first loss in the Bolivian league against Independiente Petrolero by 1-0.
