During the International Tourism Fair (FITUR) 2025, held in Madrid, SpainBogotá surprised the world with the launch of Candelaria, the first Generative Artificial Intelligence ChatBot developed in Colombia.
This innovative project, presented by the IBogotá District Tourism Instituteseeks to transform the experience of tourists who visit the capital, positioning it as a Smart Tourist Destination (DTI).
From the Colombian stand in FITURCandelaria introduced herself to attendees with a warm greeting, highlighting Bogotá as a vibrant and diverse destination. During his speech, he enthusiastically described the historical and cultural wealth of the city, mentioning emblematic places such as La Candelaria, the Eastern Hills, and its gastronomic and sustainable tourism offer.

“Bogotá is a destination that welcomes everyone with open hearts, It is everyone’s home. If you need recommendations, I’m here to help you. Let me be your travel companion and help you enjoy like never before,” he expressed. Candelaria in his inaugural speech, earning the attention and curiosity of the attendees.
Andrés Santamaría, director of the Bogotá Tourism Officeled the presentation, highlighting that Candelaria is a unique development in Latin America.
“We are the first tourism entity in Colombia to implement a generative AI trained with its own knowledge base. While others have incorporated traditional chats, our AI goes much further: it not only answers questions, but creates content and personalized experiences in real time, generating unique interactions,” Santamaría explained.
In addition to answering questions from tourists, Candelaria is designed to interact through text and video, offering a closer and more disruptive experience for those who wish to explore the city.

In addition, the Visit Bogotá mobile application, available for free in the App Store and Play Store, allows you to access this tool from any mobile device.
