‘Bogotá, finally, has a new POT’, Claudia López

'Bogotá, finally, has a new POT', Claudia López

Mayor Claudia López issued the decree of the Territorial Organization Plan of Bogotá that traces the roadmap of the organization of the city in the coming years.

(The Bogotá POT decree was issued: this is how the sectors react).

“Bogotá, finally, has a new POT that for the next 15 years organizes the city, improves it and defines how we want to live our present and future. We have paid dearly for 10 years with an expired POT and from today we have a common north and vision ”, López said during a press conference in which he made his decision known to the public.

He added that this POT was necessary, after there was no consensus on the strategy in the last 10 years and in 3 municipalities.

“The POT has been discussed for 10 years and 3 mayors. The Council denied the proposals presented by the Petro and Peñalosa administrations. On the other hand, our POT had 3 positive presentations. Once the deadline for discussion has expired, today we adopt it by decree, a power that the law gives us ”, added the mayor.

Faced with criticism from some sectors that insist that the decision is arbitrary and that more discussions were lacking, López said that the POT agreement does not end with the issuance of the decree and that it is a commitment of the mayor’s office to make adjustments to the plan if required. .

“The agreement of the POT does not end with the issuance of the decree. Incident participation remains in the rulemaking stage. We will fulfill all the commitments that we assume to make adjustments and details with recyclers, residents, unions and builders! “

He added that, “We are committed to the recyclers, to the residents so that high-impact activities are not left in residential areas, but rather in structuring areas. We are committed to the builders about the loads (…) all those commitments that we acquired in the Cabildo Abierto los we will comply in the regulation stage “.

FIVE COMMITMENTS OF THE POT WITH BOGOTÁ

In her speech, the mayor stated that the Territorial Ordinance Plan decreed under her mandate assumes five major commitments to build the city for the next 15 years, which are:

– Pay the environmental debt: “Bogotá is not going to continue preying on rural and environmental land. Bogotá, with this POT, makes a historic decision; with this POT Bogotá is left with two new wetlands, three new border parks, four mountain ecological parks … grow its main ecological structure instead of growing its urban structure “.

– A response to the social outbreak: “This is the POT of the Bogota middle class, it is the POT that pays the enormous social debt in education, care, employment, and decent housing for Bogota citizens”.

– Build the green, multimodal and regional transportation system

– Bring the city closer to citizens with 33 towns: Three locations will be rural and 30 will be urban. The first step will be between 2022 and 2027, with planning and citizen participation; in 2027, citizens will elect councilors; In 2028, citizens will elect local mayors. – Build an integrated, innovative and sustainable city-region.
