Bogotá announces restrictions for motorcyclists during the festive long weekend

The Mayor’s Office of Bogotá announced special mobility measures for the Halloween celebrations. Motorcyclists will be affected.

Bogotá is getting ready to experience one of the busiest and most festive nights of the year. The celebration of halloween will not only bring costumes, sweets and parties, but also a reinforcement in the road safety measures that the Mayor’s Office will implement to guarantee control and tranquility during the festive long weekend which will run from this Thursday, October 30 to Monday, November 3.

The district administration explained that these provisions are part of the District Decree 528 of 2025, which seeks to prevent road accidents, fights and disorders on the main avenues of the capital.

One of the decisions is the restriction of motorcycle griller, measure that will be in effect from 00:00 on Thursday, October 30 until 11:59 pm on Monday, November 3. But the regulation does not end there. The Mayor’s Office also established a general ban on the circulation of motorcycles between the 8:00 pm and 5:00 am on several key road corridors.

Among them, the North Highway, the South Highway, the NQS, Boyacá Avenue, Ciudad de Cali Avenue, Avenida Primero de Mayo, Avenida Suba, Calle 26 (Avenida El Dorado), Calle 80, Carrera Séptima, Carrera 68, Avenida Centenario (Calle 13), Avenida Guayacanes, Avenida Esperanza, Avenida Villavicencio, Avenida Circunvalar, Calle 53, Calle 63 and Carrera 60.

Those who fail to comply with these provisions will incur violation C.14 of the National Traffic Code, that sanctions transiting through restricted sites or at times prohibited by the competent authority. The comparison is equivalent to 604,100 pesos, in addition to the possible immobilization of the vehicle.

However, the decree also contemplates exceptions. Motorcycles belonging to the Public Force are authorized to circulate, emergency agencies, duly identified private security, insurance services, transportation of people with disabilities, and courier vehicles or addresses that carry visible logos or service badges, as well as those related to maintenance and control of the Integrated Public Transport System (SITP).

The District reported that the measure seeks to reduce accident rates and prevent incidents. crimes during festive nights, in which a considerable increase in mobility and nocturnal activities is expected.

What other measures did the authorities take?

To guarantee compliance with the measures, a comprehensive plan is contemplated. control and support that will be active throughout the festive long weekend.

This device seeks to maintain order, prevent accidents and reinforce security on the main roads of the capital. In total, 2,000 uniformed members of the Bogotá Metropolitan Police They will be deployed at different strategic points.

Added to this are 180 units per night, made up of civil traffic agents, guides and uniformed Traffic Police, who will carry out regulation and surveillance tasks.

Additionally, they will be installed 15 checkpoints distributed along the main road corridors, where breathalyzer tests, document verification and accompaniment will be carried out for drivers and motorcyclists.

The district authorities called on citizens to plan their trips in advance, respect the rules and act responsibly during the celebrations. They also recalled that the sanctions for violating the restrictions They not only imply financial burdens, but also the possible immobilization of the vehicle.
