Among the remains found in a clandestine grave on February 6, the discovery of José Ángel Hernández, a 37-year-old engineer from Zacatecas, was confirmed. However, the other nine mining workers are still missing.
According to the miners’ families, they were kidnapped by an armed commando during the early hours of January 23 while they were in the La Clementina mining camp, in the community of Pánuco. They worked for the construction company CICAR, which provides services to the Canadian mining company Vizsla Silver.
Four people were arrested on February 4 for their possible relationship with the disappearance of the workers as part of the investigation carried out by the Special Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime (FEMDO).
