Boca defeats Tigre and River loses to Colón on the third date

Boca Juniors beat Tigre 5-3 and River Plate lost last night in their visit to Colón by 1-0 in two games that gave continuity to the third day of the Argentine Soccer League Tournament, which has Estudiantes and Newell’s Old Boys as leaders.

Late this Wednesday, Boca Juniors won the ‘Bombonera’ at home 5-3 against Tigre with goals from Darío Benedetto (2), Exequiel Zeballos (2) and Nicolás Demartini, against their fence, while Mateo Retegui (2, one penalty) and Jorge Figal, also against his fence, converted for the visit.

With this victory, Xeneize accumulates six units just like Platense -this Thursday they host Gimnasia-, one point behind the leaders Estudiantes de La Plata and Newell’s Old Boys, who on Tuesday achieved two victories against Sarmiento de Junín (2-1 ) and Talleres de Córdoba (0-1).

River Plate, meanwhile, is still unable to win in this tournament and after two draws with a blank scoreboard this Wednesday they lost 1-0 in their visit to Santa Fe against Colón with a goal from Ramón ‘Wanchope’ Ábila.

In this way, the Millionaire remains with two units in the lower part of the classification, while Colón reached five points after this victory and two draws.

In other results recorded this Wednesday, Unión beat Barracas Central 1-2, while Banfield and Atlético Tucumán added respective wins by 2-1 against Central Córdoba and Lanús.

On Tuesday, at the beginning of the day, San Lorenzo equalized 3-3 with Arsenal de Sarandí, Patronato beat Aldosivi de Mar del Plata 1-0 while Defensa y Justicia equalized 1-1 with Huracán.

The end of this third day will be tonight with four games, with the presentation of Platense (the only team that added consecutive victories in the first two days) against Gimnasia, the crossing of Racing Club against Vélez, the visit of Independiente to Argentinos Juniors and the confrontation between Rosario Central and Godoy Cruz.
