SANTO DOMINGO.-The Armed Forces Retirement and Pension Funds Board (JRFPFFAA) increased the salary of 8,391 military pensioners, with an investment of RD$ 224,073 million from the institution’s internal savings.
The information was offered by the president of the JRFPFFAA, Major General Carlos A. Fernández Onofre, ERD., who said that during the administration of President Luis Abinader, a salary improvement plan for military pensioners has been developed, which includes 4,888 retired soldiers. Army, 1,609 from the Navy, 1,685 from the Air Force and 209 attached to the Ministry of Defense.
“Carrying out this plan during the period September 2020 to May 2022, under the direction of Defense Minister Lieutenant General Carlos Luciano Díaz Morfa, ERD., has been possible thanks to the internal savings of the institution, resources that are destined for pensioners, as established by the Organic Law of the Armed Forces 139-13”, he specified.
Fernández Onofre indicated that “This action in favor of the pensioners of our Armed Forces follows the guidelines of President Abinader to improve the quality of life of the members of our military bodies, both active and pensioners.”
The list of beneficiaries of the salary improvements includes 159 generals, 75 colonels, 57 lieutenant colonels, 110 majors, 127 captains, 264 first lieutenants, 1,088 second lieutenants, 142 sergeant majors, 69 corporals, 21 privates, 15 assimilated military personnel, 1,851 pensioners and 188 tutors.
The Armed Forces Retirement and Pension Funds Board has the function of recognizing and paying the retirement allowances of passive military personnel, directing its actions towards the consolidation of their well-being and that of their families, an action closely linked to the strategic axis of guaranteeing military social security.
It has administrative control and assigns the corresponding pension to retired, assimilated and pensioned personnel of the Armed Forces and their qualifying family members, and seeks to constantly improve the well-being of retirees and pensioners, offering a service with agile, simple procedures, quality and personalized.
