After registering delays on flights between Oruro and Cochabamba, the state-owned Boliviana de Aviación (BoA) attributed these inconveniences to climatic factors registered in the folkloric capital of the country. In recent days, various criticisms of the state company have arisen due to the delay in some flights on its different routes, both national and international.

Boliviana de Aviación informs its users that, due to the adverse weather factors in the city of Oruro (strong winds that prevent a safe landing) our scheduled flights to and from the city of Cochabamba and connections will be rescheduled,” the state company said in the official note.

In its statement, the company asked its users to check “the status of their flight” in the Contact Center that was enabled by the state company.

“Boliviana de Aviación reiterates its commitment to the safety and well-being of all Bolivians,” adds the national airline.

This fact generated several criticisms from users traveling to and from Cochabamba to Oruro and vice versa. Social networks were the means used by passengers.

It is not the first time that similar events have happened, during this month several complaints were registered for flight delays. The best known case was of the cat ‘Tito’, a pet that was lost by airline officials at the Tarija airport. And to date the cat has not been found by the state company, which promised to look for it.

Faced with this situation, even the Telecommunications and Transport Regulation and Oversight Authority (ATT) gave the state company a period of five days to present a plan to solve the delays.

“Considering the high travel season at the end of the year and evidencing a significant rate of delays and cancellations during this period, the ATT has notified BoA so that within five days they establish an improvement action plan to immediately strengthen the provision of their services. We are going to exercise control to see the effectiveness of your plan, verifying that the operator complies with a valid percentage in punctuality”, announced the Executive Director of the regulatory entity, Néstor Ríos.

Then, the state company reported that the requirements demanded by the Telecommunications and Transportation Supervision and Regulation Authority (ATT) were presented to improve its services.

On Sunday, Ríos reported in an interview on the state channel that the regulatory entity sanctioned 12 air operators, eight from Santa Cruz, two from La Paz, and two from Cochabamba.

In total, the ATT received 191 complaints for poor service and 178 for flight delays, all this in the last week. In addition, among the airlines fined are Ecojet and BoA, which were pointed out by users for poor service and lack of personnel.
