With a budget of R$ 12 billion, the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES) opened, this Thursday (16), a protocol to receive credit requests under the BNDES Program for Settlement of Rural Debts. The purpose is to help the recovery of economic capacity and support the recovery of agricultural producers who have recorded significant crop losses.
Operations can be carried out through the network of partner financial institutions accredited by BNDES. The financing will have a term of up to nine years, including a grace period. The program will support rural producers, associations, rural condominiums and agricultural cooperatives located in municipalities that, between 2020 and 2024, had a state of public calamity or emergency situation declared by the federal government, as a result of adverse weather events.
“BNDES is the main agent of the federal government for implementing long-term public credit policies in the country. Just as happened in Rio Grande do Sul, with companies affected by climate extremes, the bank offers rural producers economic relief, to guarantee the continuity of productive activity in the field, especially for family farmers and medium-sized producers, who have a central role in food security and regional development”, said Maria Fernanda Coelho, director of Digital Credit and Management at Fundo Rio Sweet.
Of the total resources, 40% are reserved for producers who benefit from the National Family Farming Program (Pronaf) and the National Support Program for Medium Rural Producers (Pronamp), segments most vulnerable to the effects of crop losses.
