Month of fight against prostate cancer, Edil García asked to illuminate the façade of the Board
November is internationally established as the month to combat prostate cancer, a period in which emphasis is placed on raising awareness about this disease and the importance of prevention and early detection.
It is for this reason that it is also called Blue November.
The topic came to the Departmental Board, through a presentation made in the Chamber during the Half Hour Before the last Plenary Session on Edil Aparicio García Costa.
Among other things, he requested to illuminate the façade of the Legislative building in blue, as well as to contribute to breaking down stigmas and taboos that still exist today in relation to men’s health.
“Today we are all gathered here in this Plenary to accompany and make visible a cause that crosses borders and that involves us all as a society: the International Blue November Campaign” raised the Departmental Legislator of the National Party.
“This month is dedicated to raising awareness about men’s health, with special emphasis on the prevention and early detection of prostate cancer” García Costa added.
“Prostate cancer is one of the most common cancers in men worldwide” he revealed later during his presentation. “Detected in time, it has high possibilities of treatment and cure. However, many times the diagnosis comes late due to lack of information, fear or cultural taboos that still exist around men’s health” he stated.
“Blue November is a call to break these silences, to talk openly about prevention and to promote regular medical check-ups starting at ages 40 and 50 or even earlier if there is a family history.” Aparicio García remarked.
“This campaign also puts on the table other equally important aspects such as the mental health of men, the importance of healthy habits and the need to create safe spaces so that men can take care of themselves and be cared for.” expressed the Mayor of the National Party.
“Illuminating our public buildings with the color blue is not only a symbolic gesture, it is a way of making visible a cause that saves lives, it is inviting reflection and action” held.
“Today we want to convey this clear message: taking care of yourself is not weakness, it is responsibility and self-love, and as a community we must accompany this path with empathy, information and support” said.
“May this month of November, which begins in a few hours, find us committed to men’s health, breaking stigmas and contributing to a more conscious and supportive society, which is why I request that this Board illuminate its façade in blue.” asked Aparicio García Costa, Mayor of the National Party.
