More clean, inclusive and environmentally friendly beaches. This year five beaches receive certification for the first time and 3 recertify for the fourth consecutive year.

The Blue Flag or Blue Flag is an award given annually since 1987 by the Environmental Education Foundation to beaches and ports that meet a series of environmental conditions and facilities.

Beaches that will be certified at the ceremony

The five beaches that this year receive the award for the first time blue flag are:
  • Blanca with the operation of the Mayor’s Office of Santa Marta.
  • Playa Segunda Ensenada with the management of the Mayor’s Office of Coveñas.
  • Urban Beach Sector 3 operated by the Mayor of Riohacha.
  • Playa el Morro due to the operation of the Mayor’s Office of Tumaco.
  • Playa Dorada administered by the Mayor’s Office of Buenaventura.

In turn, the beaches that achieved certification for the fourth consecutive year were:

  • Johnny Cay Regional Park managed by CORALINA in the San Andrés Archipelago.
  • Concessioned Bello Horizonte beach by the Hotel Zuana in the city of Santa Marta.
  • Playa Azul de la Boquilla under management by the Mayor of Cartagena.

On November 17 was the ceremony in Cartagena that delivered the International Award blue flag to the eight beaches that met the quality standards and are creditors of international recognition.
