Blocking on roads reduces movement by 17% at Ceagesp

The Companhia de Entrepostos e Armazéns Gerais de São Paulo (Ceagesp) recorded a 17% drop in vehicles that arrived today (1st) at the terminal in São Paulo, in Vila Leopoldina.Blocking on roads reduces movement by 17% at Ceagesp

According to the company, between midnight and 10 am, 4,400 vehicles entered the warehouse, while on Tuesday of last week, in the same period of time, 5,200 vehicles were received.

Ceagesp attributes the drop in movement, in part, to road blocks. Since Sunday night (30), truck drivers have stopped traffic on the country’s highways in protest against the results of the presidential elections.

The Federal Supreme Court (STF) determined, last night (31), that the Federal Highway Police (PRF) and the military police “take all necessary and sufficient measures” for the “immediate clearing of all public roads that, illicitly, have their traffic interrupted”.

The decision was made at the request of the National Transport Confederation (CNT), which even claimed that there was a risk of shortages in some industrial chains.

Despite the reduction in movement, Ceagesp ruled out the possibility of lack of goods and food. However, today’s flower fair, which was supposed to be busy due to the proximity of the All Souls’ Day holiday, was affected by the lockdowns.

To normalize the situation at the warehouse, trucks were allowed to load and unload at the terminal 24 hours a day. Normally, the cut-off time is until 18:00.
