A group of seven Colombian tourists continues to live moments of uncertainty in Boliviaafter staying stranded by blockades and demonstrations that keep several roads in the country closed and prevent their movement towards Peacecity where they must take their flight back to Colombia. The situation arises from January 7 and, until now, they have not managed to reach the airport.
Maribel Camacho, one of the Colombians affected, explained that the group had just taken a tourist tour through Peruwhere the trip went smoothly. However, upon entering Bolivia they encountered roadblocks that completely stopped their journey to the capital.
Currently, travelers remain in the Tholar villagelocated approximately an hour and a half by car from La Paz. Given the impossibility of moving forward by vehicle, they have had to walk for long stretchesseek improvised shelter and face difficulties in obtaining food.
“We have had to walk very long stretches since the morning, since approximately half past six. Last night we spent the night near a rural school, after in one of the blockades the community was hostile to us and forced us to return with threats and stones,” said Maribel Collazos.
According to testimony, the group had to turn back after being intercepted at one of the blockades and spent the night near a rural schoolwithout adequate conditions and with limited access to food. Added to this situation is the concern over the lack of transportation to continue the trip.
Among those affected there are not only Colombians. The group also includes citizens of the Netherlands, Japan and Norwaywho face the same difficulties in leaving the country.
Tourists missed the flights they had scheduled for this January 9 at 3:00 in the morningsince they did not manage to reach the airport due to the blockades. Faced with this situation, the Avianca airline already responded and, as indicated by the travelers, provided them support for when they manage to get to the airport and thus be able to reschedule your return to Colombia.
However, the main problem remains. The group claims that He does not have the means to travel to La Pazdue to the closure of the roads, so they make an urgent call to the Colombian Foreign Ministry to provide them with accompaniment and logistical support that allows them to leave the area where they remain.
While demonstrations and blockades continue on several roads in Bolivia, tourists are still waiting for a solution that will allow them to reach the airport and return to their country.
