In the middle of the fourth day of demonstration by the residents of Espinar (Cusco), who demand the delivery of a ‘bonus’ of two thousand soles with the budget of the Framework Agreement between the Antapaccay mining company and the province of Espinar, the demonstrators announced that the the blockade of the southern mining corridor from midnight this Thursday.
This information was given to Mail Fredy Llaique, secretary of the so-called Espinar Fighting Committee, who assured that no tangible agreement has been reached with the company or with the Government so far, so they will radicalize their protest measure.
“Today (Thursday) from midnight the communities are going to take different points, the mining corridor is passing through the heart of some communities, the suspension of Antapaccay’s activities is going to be requested until they resolve the issue of the bonus and the reformulation of the Framework Agreement, which is administered by the mining company when the people should administer this budget ”, referred.
Regarding the entry of a group of protesters to the so-called Casa Bomba and the vandalization of the perimeter of the Antapaccay mining camp, the leader said that the protesters they did nothing to the mining team and that they only diverted the course of the water from the Salado River
“Accusations have come out through ‘trolles’, we have suffered police repressionwe have already sent a document to the PCM but we have not received a response, the protest is going to radicalize until we achieve our objectives”, culminated.
In addition to the ‘bonus’ of two thousand soles, another of the residents’ claims is against the Coroccohuayco Integration Project, for which they ask for a new survey of social license, in addition to demanding the reformulation of the Framework Agreement between the province of Espinar and the Antapaccay mining company.
The community members have mentioned that they expect a visit from the President of the Republic himself, Pedro Castillo, together with his premier and Ministers of Energy and Mines, Housing, Sanitation and Transportation.
FACT:
– The delivery of this ‘solidarity bonus’ for the residents of Espinar, has already been approved by the Management Committee, however the residents demand the use of the 45 million soles that the Framework Agreement saves plus an advance of 35 million that they ask the mining company, in order to reach the 80 million they would need for the effective delivery to all the inhabitants of this Cusco province.
