Blackout: metro stations evacuated after blackout

Various stations of the Santo Domingo Metro were evacuated this Monday afternoon after the blackout will affect the service causing the paralysis of trains and leaving in the dark platforms.

The Metropolitan Transportation Company (EMT), former Office for the Reorganization of Transport (Opret), reported that, until now, the service was operating intermittently.

Interruptions are recorded both in the line 1 as in line 2. Users reported paralyzation at the station The Taínos and Francisco Alberto Caamaño, and in the line 2at the Concepción Bona, Francisco stations Gregorio Billini and Freddy Beras Goico, where users were evicted.

“I coincidentally took the subway today at La Feria, and at Francisco Alberto Caamaño they took us all out,” said one person.

“Everything was in the dark, without lights emergency… only people shining their phones,” said a user who was there at the time of the incident.

The service of the Santo Domingo Cable Car is also paralyzed.

General blackout

In broadcast videos in social networks Dozens of people are seen leaving the stations while the spaces remained completely no lighting.

Until now, the authorities have not offered details about the specific causes of the interruption or the complete restoration of the service, while the event occurs in the middle of the general blackout that affects the national electrical system.
