This Tuesday (31), the flight recorders of the Embraer 190 jet with registration 4K-AZ65, which fell on December 25thnear the city of Aktau, Kazakhstan. Known as black boxes, the recorders are of the Cockpit Voice and Flight Data Recorder (CVFDR) type.
The aircraft’s recorders will be examined at the Flight Recorder Data Reading and Analysis Laboratory (LABDATA) of the Aeronautical Accident Investigation and Prevention Center (Cenipa), in the federal capital. The Brazilian Air Force (FAB) did not inform the arrival time of the material to be examined.
Cenipa is the Brazilian body responsible for investigating aviation accidents and an accredited representative of aircraft produced by Embraer. In addition to the Brazilian technicians involved in recording the data, the Air Force center will receive researchers from Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Russia (three from each country).
The Embraer plane belonged to the Azerbaijan Airlines commercial fleet and had 67 people on board, including five crew members. The jet was flying from Baku, in Azerbaijan, to Grozny, capital of the Chechnya region, in southern Russia.
The aircraft ended up deviating from its original route until it crashed on the opposite side of the Caspian Sea. According to international news agencies, the jet was hit by Russian anti-aircraft defenses, which were attacking Ukrainian drones.
ACCORDING to a note from the FAB, “at the end of the work, the extracted data will be handed over to the Aviation Accident Investigation Authority of Kazakhstan, the agency responsible for analyzing and investigating the accident in question, in accordance with international aviation accident investigation protocols.”
