Bisonó projects that the DR will exceed US$5,000 MM in investment

Foreign direct investment (FDI) in the Dominican Republic could exceed the US$5,000 million by the end of 2025according to estimates by the Minister of Industry, Commerce and MSMEs, Víctor “Ito” Bisonó, who attributed this projection to the recent performance of the economy and the continuity of the flow of capital to productive sectors.

According to the official, the country closed 2024 with around US$4.8 billion in FDI, so the US$5 billion threshold would be exceeded this year if the entry rhythm of investments observed in recent quarters.

Bisonó pointed out that the main destinations of these capitals continue to be free zonestourism, renewable energiescommerce, manufacturing industries and creative industriessectors that have concentrated the majority of the projects announced and in execution.

The minister maintained that the evolution of investment reflects an environment of macroeconomic stability and rules of the game predictable, factors that, as indicated, are usually determining factors for the decision-making of the international investors. His statements came in the context of an evaluation of the behavior of the business climate and the attraction of foreign capital.

Regarding the economic perspectives, Bisonó stated that for 2026 The Dominican Republic would once again be among the economies of further growth of Latin America and the Caribbean, in line with projections released by the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), although it did not offer specific figures on the estimated rates.

The owner of the MICM indicated that this institution will continue working on policies aimed at strengthening the competitivenesssupport the micro, small and medium enterprisesand facilitate productive investment, with the aim of sustaining economic growth and job creation.
