SANTIAGO.- The auxiliary bishop of the local archdiocese, Monsignor Carlos Tomás Morel Diplán, yesterday urged parents to work hard in raising their children and to help them identify the vocations to which they have been called.
“Everyone in this world has been called to a vocation by our creative father and the greatest responsibility of parents is to guide and help their children discover what theirs is, so that they can dedicate themselves with love and total dedication,” he stressed. Monsignor Morel Diplán while delivering the homily of the nocturnal Eucharist of the Santiago Apóstol (El Mayor) Cathedral, here.
He specified that in a world with so many offers of easy things that apparently do not cost much work, it is the duty of parents to guide, educate and guide their children along the best paths in life.
“Our adolescents and young people have great abilities and many times what is missing is some help, the great misfortune of our parents is wanting to impose issues on their children,” said Bishop Morel Diplán.
He indicated that in a home where sincere love, tenderness, affection and mutual respect are cultivated, then we will have a better society for everyone.
He criticized that in our society we live in a selfish or narcissistic way, where only what matters to each person.
“That must be banished from society, where the affairs of others are of no value, only selfishness and the self are practiced,” concluded the auxiliary bishop.
