Bishop of Tacna and Moquegua celebrates mass for the cessation of violence and deaths in the country

In view of the demonstrations in the country and the deaths that have occurred, the bishop of the Diocese of Tacna and Moquegua, Monsignor Marco Antonio Cortez Lara, today, Sunday, December 18, will officiate a day of prayer for peace in the cathedral at 7:30 a.m.

In the Eucharistic act, they will pray for the cessation of violence and for the souls of those who died after the vacancy of former President Pedro Castillo Terrones. The day of prayer is an activity promoted by the Episcopal Council at the national level.

The bishop will also officiate the mass to remember the anniversary of the Diocese of Tacna and Moquegua, for which they have invited the faithful and believers to participate in the celebration.

The protests, blockades and burning of public and private buildings have caused deaths and injuries to demonstrators and police. All this spiral of violence began when former President Pedro Castillo announced a coup, the closure of Congress and the state of emergency.
