Santo Domingo, DR. – Within the framework of the celebration “A Step For My Family”monsignor. Tomás Alejo Concepción expressed his deep concern, dismay and rejection of ruling TC/1225/25 of the Constitutional Court, which eliminated the sanctions that penalized consensual relationships between people of the same sex within the National Police and the Armed Forces Dominicans.
The decision, which according to Alejo Concepción, has shocked the nation, leaving citizens and institutions perplexed, without a clear explanation of its motivations, must be explained to society because it can have both cultural and financial repercussions.
Bishop Alejo Concepción argued that the anthropology, culture and ethical and moral values of the Dominican people “they do not admit such provisions within the military bodies.” He stressed that the National Police and the Armed Forces are sacred institutions, pillars of order, discipline and the defense of sovereignty.

The statement questioned the future impact on the military academies and the defense of the Nation, differentiating between the private decision of an individual and the state legitimation of practices within institutions that demand exemplarity and moral transparency.
Call to action
Given what he described as a “mistake” of this sentence, the ecclesiastical leader firmly declared that they will continue to raise their voices so that this decision does not advance and spread in Dominican society.
“We will not remain silent and we will not cross our arms,” he said. He urged families, civil society and churches to defend the principles that give cohesion to the Dominican identity. Finally, he urged the President of the Republic to act with historical responsibility so as not to compromise the moral integrity of these fundamental institutions, emphasizing that training in moral values begins at home.
Archbishop of Santo Domingo joins the public demand
Like Monsignor. Tomás Alejo Concepción, the coadjutor archbishop of Santo Domingo, Carlos Tomás Morel Diplán, forcefully rejected the agenda that some State institutions have adopted and that does not correspond to Dominican culture, such as the decriminalization of relationships between people of the same sex, in his message in “One Step for my Family 2025”.
The archbishop said that good customs and Christian values must be highlighted and defended, in which the well-being of all resides, as well as the stability of the country.
