Bishop Masalles advocates educating about family role; Call for a Family Ministry

3. Masalles Rn and AMR

Santo Domingo.- The bishop of the diocese of Peravia, San José de Ocoa and San Cristóbal, Monsignor Victor Masallesconsidered this Sunday that it is necessary to work on social deterioration with the family as the nucleus, and considers that it could start with grouping various entities into a “Ministry of the Family.”

“For example, there are countries like Italy, where there is a Ministry of the Family. We have ministries for Women, Youth, Conani for babies, the elderly… and all of this worked separately in a disjointed way, a lot of money destined to separately reinforce each of these strata of the society,” he said.

Monsignor Masalles He said that, by establishing a Ministry of the Family in the country, it would begin to save money and have a holistic vision where the family is the center and each one discovers the role they have in this important nucleus.

Masalles pointed out that if a Ministry of the Family were established in the country, it would not be giving away things that do not help to strengthen this social nucleus to the social segments that make it up.

He understands that this is what has been lacking in the country, but that it is difficult for it to come true because there are many interests involved, since what is wanted is more ministers, more deputies, more senators and that an excessively bureaucratic apparatus prevails. .

“If you have a family, you don’t spend on drugs or alcohol and you don’t throw away the ‘rooms’, but the great powers need that… That would do enormous damage to those who feed on it,” said the Catholic leader when interviewed. on the TV show Reviews.

youth and crime

Regarding the case of the Los Alcarrizos criminal gang, where some of its members died, Bishop Masalles pointed out that these young people did not have a family or if they did, it was dysfunctional.

He said that the school should be a place where the family policy is implemented so that those children who do not have it can be helped, including those children who have grown up only with their grandmother or who are not educated to understand what is this social nucleus and the role of those who integrate it.

“So, we have a sector that knows how to build a family and another large sector that will never have the tools to know how to build a family, how to educate a child, how to raise a boy… because they didn’t even raise him” , expressed Monsignor Masalles.

He pointed out that only family policies will be the only ones capable of that main cell in society, recovering its health, because “a healthy society can only be achieved with a healthy family.”

The bishop said he was very happy because the Government has given them the green light so that, from the Ministry of Education (Minerd), a family formation plan is implemented in all schools in Peravia.

He said that he would love for this to be implemented in the country and that it is the first time that he feels heard in order to move forward with the project, which he said is already being coordinated with the Minister of Education.

The real meaning of Christmas

Regarding the Christmas party, Monsignor Masalles recalled that “what we celebrate is that God remembered his people, that he keeps his promises and that the coming of the Savior is the beginning of the path of redemption of the human being.”

“I think that people do not realize the importance of the need that the human being has for what redemption is,” he pointed out, adding that “as Paul VI said, the human being has lost the notion of sin and its need for redemption and I think that today, it is more valid than when he said it.

He explained that Christmas is one of the great festivals that focuses on celebrating the coming of the Savior, a moment in which God shows that he trusts humanity and sends his son, but that much of the identity of being a Christian has been lost and many they have focused on distorting the true meaning of the celebration.

“The path of salvation is a job, it is not a kind of ‘we all go to heaven’, don’t worry: drink, eat, and Christmas is the path of redemption,” he reiterated.

On the role of the Church, Monsignor Masalles said that, regardless of the fact that there have been people with different thoughts, what has made it last 2,000 years is the festival that gives it identity, because since Jesus Christ was born, it has never left to celebrate.

The bishop of the diocese of Peravia, San José de Ocoa and San Cristóbal, Monsignor Víctor Masalles during the interview with journalists Adelaida Martínez and Rafael Núñez in the Reseñas program.

He criticized that in the country the date of the patrician Juan Pablo Duarte is changed to have a long weekend and observed that, for example, there are schools, many of which are bilingual, that celebrate Thanksgiving and Memorial Day, celebrations that do not have nothing to do with the Dominicans: “So, the country is losing its identity, and the party is what maintains it.”

When asked how Dominicans should celebrate, he said that “deep down, people know what Christmas is, but that it is more comfortable to live it superficially, when this party forces them to consume less and spend less, to harm their health less and to cultivate the spirit.

Regarding the family, she said that the beautiful thing is that this party touches her, and that it can be appreciated that, despite the fact that the celebration of Christmas may have been misrepresented in some things, people continue to have the family as their center, which she said “It’s a very good thing.”
