Authorities and merchants from Juana Méndez, in Haiti, and Dajabón, in the Dominican Republic, opened the footbridge that connects the markets on both sides of the border.
The merchants formally opened their doors on Monday on the Masacre River, which connects the Dajabón market with the Juana Méndez market.
According to vendors and authorities, a new commercial phase will begin on Monday, which seeks to revitalize and decongest the market as well as the border crossing between the two countries.
