The National Expoactivawhich this year will be held from Tuesday 14 to Saturday 18 March and it will be the 26th editionwill have a noticeable growth in the number of companies present. The stand area increased 20% and was fully occupied by exhibitors.
That happens even though The sector is facing various difficulties derived from a drought that persists and made the government extend in January and until April the declaration of agricultural emergency throughout the territory and for eight productive items: agriculture, livestock, dairy, forestry, horticulture, fruit growing, poultry and beekeeping.
The aforementioned growth was highlighted this Thursday, March 2 by Álvaro Delgado, Secretary of the Presidency of the Republicat the launch conference of the exhibition organized by the Rural Association of Soriano (ARS), held at the 19 de Junio branch of Banco de la República, in Montevideo.

Business support for the traditional exhibition of technology in operation, which has been carried out since 1992, is more relevant than those that occurred in other years, considering that the adverse scenario in the sector due to drought not only persists, increasing difficulties, but is also far from resolved, as he commented at the conference Fernando Mattos, Minister of Livestock, Agriculture and Fisheries (MGAP).
The minister, among other considerations, praised the organization for the step taken to buy the field where this annual exhibition will be held from now on, a classic at each summer closure, and announced that “We will be in this very difficult year for everyone with a very marked presence of the government, as has been the trend of this administration and especially at this time of difficulties”.
Alejandro González, director of the ARS and manager of the exhibition site, pointed out to The Observer that there will be more than 300 exhibiting companies, representing nearly 1,000 brands of technological developments, other products and services for the agribusiness sector.
While watching a video that showed the evolution of the property from September 2022 to date, Arturo Wilson, president of the ARS, alluded to the great news: “Expoactiva is going to be in our own field, it is a historical desire that we always hadFortunately, in the ARS we have executives who have been since Expoactiva No. 1 and it is a very relevant achievement for us”.
Own house
The ARS stopped leasing the property that it had been using in recent years and acquired a very close one, so much so that the entrance continues to be at the same height as Route No. 2, on km 255, passing the property if you go from the south, since it is on the route at km 252.

Wilson also pointed out that this year the exhibition has as its distinctive phrase “The place for future technologies” and that this is “the biggest message”, remembering that the Expoactiva site has been a place where innovative technologies were presented for the first time in the country since its inception.
The BROU president, Salvador Ferrer, and the mayor of Soriano, Guillermo Besozzi, also spoke at the conference.
Ferrer, about the step taken by the ARS to acquire the field where the exhibition will be held from now on, said “The joy of being able to be Banco República a partner in this process, as it has to be, as Banco República has to be with the entire agricultural sector”.
Besozzi said that “It’s going to be a great Expoactiva, despite the difficult times we are experiencing due to the drought”an exhibition in which there will be much talk about drought and irrigation, something that should not only happen when there is a drought, “it should always be the case,” he said.
The 2023 National Expoactiva will open on Tuesday the 14th with three instances standing out: the holding of the National Congress of Mayors there, the opening ceremony and the visit to the premises of the President of the Republic, Luis Lacalle Pou. But, in addition, there will already be activities in each of the thematic areas of the property.
The public will be able to visit the exhibition in the five days obtaining their entrance for free, for which they must obtain an invitation from one of the exhibiting firms, or acquiring the entrance at the ticket offices of the property, with a cost of $300.
In the new 92-hectare ARS property, there will be a static sample area with the exhibition areas of each company; a dynamic activity zone for active demonstrations of machinery, tools, services, vehicles and other proposals; and a crop sector where there are soybeans, corn, sorghum and sunflower, as well as pastures.
