Biden did it: Let’s recharge our batteries!

Joe Biden

HAVANA, Cuba. – Biden finally did it. So that there is no doubt that during his time in the White House he learned nothing from his neighbor or, on the contrary, that he knows very well where the batteries are located in that communist toy that, although no one buys it because it is horrible, everyone loves it. “feeling” to definitively remove it from the window.

The Cuban regime has been converted by the left into a “relic” and perhaps only for that reason The Vatican counts it among the many tools of martyrdom that it treasures as symbols of its past. Thus once again he has been the mediator, forgiving the years when on the Island visiting a church, carrying a crucifix or mentioning God was harshly punished by the Communist Party.

Few dare to call it a dictatorship, everyone forgives the blunders, the flirtations and the ties with the Nicolás Maduro that fantasizes about invading Puerto Ricowith Moscow, Pyongyang, Hamas, Hezbollah, ETA and with any guerrilla group or political party that smells of cocaine or gifted oil, and to a large extent that “immunity”, that special treatment is derived from the meticulous way in which Castroism has He worked on the projection of his image abroad and, furthermore, to the networks of influence that he has known how to weave and that extend from Havana to the most unexpected places.

An image with which he allows himself to play with repression in such a way that it seems like “self-defense”, and that allows him to emerge unscathed in human rights matters at the UN even with artists, activists and journalists in prison or exiled, which is worth a respite in a prisoner exchange when just the day before imprisoned two other young people for protesting on their social networksso it is a well-constructed image, although from here we see the seams and other flaws. But it is an image only to “give the idea” where only words, statistics and negotiations are enough to make it work.

To the strengthening of that image, made of pure language and very little materiality (where sometimes the role of victim is played and other times that of “good people”), where they talk about “achievements”, “changes”, “ intentions of dialogue”, of “cooperation”, of “exchange” we have all contributed to a large extent by not dedicating enough time to the intelligent disassembly, piece by piece, of what each word and each new law really means in the discourse of the dictatorship, each step, strategy, experiment and exercise, as well as to reveal in detail how the deepest mechanism of that “toy” works to which, almost on the verge of extinguishing its energy source, the “enemy” has contradictorily given charge again as if out of compassion.

But believing in “good intentions”, or in naivety, or in Biden’s lack of understanding of the problem is a useless and even unforgivable exercise. Above all for those who truly intend to deliver a mortal blow to the one who has proven to have more life than the cat, and even for those who continue to trust that the end of Castroism is in the hands of the United States Government and who at the same time despise the power that we Cubans themselves have, without depending on external aid, to shoot down, even without firing a single bullet, that diabolical doll that is today much more vulnerable than it appears, even with this new cycle of loading on its ailing batteries.

I have seen the enthusiasm of some, the disappointment of others, the hopes of a few who strive to see in the new decisions that path to democratization that Biden speaks of, and not an oxygenation of the regime, while others regret what They represent a mistake, a betrayal that will extend the life of the one who seemed about to kick the bucket.

There are even those who think that Donald Trump will be able to undo Biden’s “jinx” with a snap of his fingers when the reality is that it will not be as easy as signing an order. He will finally achieve it, but it will take time to reverse it, and it will be that very brief time that the dictatorship needs to move its money from one place to another safer place, to disguise the traces that were exposed, in short, the moment to take advantage of the light green to quickly get out of that traffic jam where you have been waiting for this opportunity that may not be repeated until another compassionate Democrat returns to direct traffic.

I have seen all these reactions as a result of the news and I still have not decided to form a group with any of them, thinking about the reason they all have, because it is very true that at the same time that the dictatorship is oxygenated, it will do so without a doubt, even if it is Taking advantage of that fleeting breath, those who equally need to breathe oxygen within Cuba, on the real battlefield, will also do so to be able to continue the fight, which is not won only by dint of slogans and posters, publications and social networks, but by knowing get to the battery compartment of the toy and make it detonate, but from deep inside.

So what seems like adversity may be a blessing, and not because it has been mediated in part by the Vatican, which needs many more blessings than the communist dictatorship in this time of little faith, but because money (which undoubtedly It is in the center and not in the background of the negotiations, because it is not by chance that they have rushed to empty their pockets opening dollar stores and closing MSMEs) is the oxygen but at the same time the downfall of Castroism, as the corruption and “disloyalties” that devour it need more and more to feed “dreams” and ambitions, which are not precisely the construction of socialism but what which we all know, and that is why we are also sometimes willing to forgive.
