(EFE) .- US President Joe Biden continues to review the decision of his predecessor, Donald Trump, to include Cuba on his blacklist State sponsors of terrorism, from which it had been withdrawn in 2015 during the thaw of the bilateral relationship.
“What I can say is that the policy on Cuba and that designation is still under review,” the acting coordinator of the State Department for terrorism, John Godfrey, said in a telephone press conference.
In response to questions from the press, the official refused to offer details on what will be the date on which the review of the policy towards Cuba can be completed.
“It is something that is ongoing and President Biden has said that he remains committed to those policies that advance the democratic aspirations of the Cuban people,” Godfrey limited himself to saying.

In that report, there is a list of States that Washington considers to be helping terrorist groups and in which North Korea, Syria and Iran are, but not Cuba since Trump decided to include the Island on that black list in 2021 and the report refers only to 2020.
Specifically, Trump included Cuba on that list just nine days before leaving the White House on January 20, 2021.
When he got to the White House, Biden promised to review policy toward Havana; But, after the repression that followed the anti-government protests of July 11 on the island, the White House announced sanctions against Cuban officials and members of the police.
Cuba was included for the first time in the list of State sponsors of terrorism in 1982.
It came out in 2015 during the phase of rapprochement promoted by the then US ruler, Barack Obama (2009-2017), and stopped by Trump, who during his term redoubled sanctions on Havana and stopped the so-called “thaw.”
