Biden congratulates India on its 75th anniversary of independence

“India and the United States are indispensable partners. The strategic alliance between the two is based on a commitment to the rule of law and the promotion of freedom and human dignity,” the president said in a statement.

The President of the United States, Joe Biden, congratulated India on Sunday for the 75th anniversary of its independence and extended his hand to work for a “free” Indo-Pacific, in the face of the threat that Washington perceives from China.

To remind
The territory of India was divided between present-day India and the new state of Pakistan, the eastern part of which became Bangladesh years later. The process unleashed a wave of violence with approximately one million dead and 15 million displaced, as a result of which a long enmity began between India and Pakistan whose disputes and effects persist today.

In addition to Gandhi, two figures marked the future of the country: Jawaharlal Nehru and Mohamed Ali Jinnah. After several mutinies in its military detachments in India, in 1946 London agreed to leave the country and organize a peaceful transition of power to local authorities within a maximum period of two years.
