The president of the United States, Joe Biden, said this Monday in an interview with NBC that his plan is to run for re-election in November 2024, although he is not ready to make the official announcement yet. Accompanied by his wife, Jill Biden, the 80-year-old Democrat returned to the fray with his claim to run for re-election.
“I plan to introduce myself, but we are not ready to announce it yet,” Biden said on the “Today” program of the aforementioned network, before presiding over the event on Easter Monday in the White House gardens. The US president has spent months dropping his intention to re-introduce himself although he has not yet made the official announcement.
In his last State of the Union address, delivered in February right in the middle of his term, Biden made no references to his possible candidacyalthough he did make clear his intention to continue governing and to be willing to continue beyond 2024. The idea is to repeat the formula with Kamala Harris, who has said that she is available to accompany the president.
maybe five, maybe six
NBC said, citing sources who wish to remain anonymous, that the advisers are working on the final details before making the candidacy official. “The decision is already made., but the president resents all the pressure of having to announce something that has already been decided,” said a source. During the Easter celebration at the White House, Biden returned to the charge: “I plan to repeat the Easter egg party here three or four times… maybe five, maybe six, what do I know”, he pointed out.
Biden’s rival in the 2020 elections, the former president of the United States Donald Trump has made his candidacy official to the Republican primaries to be his party’s candidate for the presidential elections. Trump has just become the first former president to be charged, for irregular payments to the porn actress Stormy Daniels to hide that they had relationships and prevent the news from breaking out in the 2020 campaign.
