American President, Joe Bidenhad a bilateral meeting with Dina Boluarte in which he recognized the relations that both countries have had on issues such as the fight against drug trafficking, trade agreements and now the rapprochements on space exploration issues.
Biden thanked Peru for its commitment to the fight against drugs and announced greater support from the United States in this important aspect by announcing an economic and logistical donation.
“First, we want to thank you for elevating our fight against drug trafficking, it is a mutual concern. I am proud to announce that we are dedicating 65 million dollars over the next 5 years to assist Peru, including a Black Hawk helicopter and the training of more 130 pilots and technicians,” said Biden.
The US president also announced the donation of passenger cars and locomotives that come from Caltrain, California’s commuter train system, in order to facilitate the transportation of Peruvians and reduce pollution.
“California, Caltrain, will donate 150 passenger cars and locomotives to Lima Metro Rail. It is part of a greater collaboration that will save millions for Peru and reduce pollution,” the foreign president was heard.
Finally, Biden emphasized the mutual space exploration project that NASA and CONIDA have with the signing of the agreement for the construction of a space port in Talara, Piura.
