The preparatory meeting of the Bicameral Budget Commission (CBP) is scheduled for this Monday, September 12, starting at 11:00 a.m. in the session room of the National Congress (first floor of the Legislative Branch).
The highest authorities of this state power, Senator Óscar Salomón (ANR), and Deputy Carlos María López (PLRA-Cordillera), presidents of the Senate and the Lower House, respectively, will lead the meeting.
In the preparatory meeting, the authorities of the block will be confirmed, as well as a calendar of activities that will include hearings with the representatives of the various institutions that are part of the Draft Law of the General Budget of the Nation 2023 (PGN 2023).
Ministers and directors of these institutions and dependencies must attend and present to the members of the CBP, details of the 2023 action plan, as well as its objectives and other issues related to the operation of their bodies. Next, at 11:30 am, the Bicameral Budget Commission will receive the Minister of Finance, Óscar Llamosas.
The holder of said portfolio will present the scope of the investment plan for next year. Then, at 2:00 p.m., a meeting with the Minister of the Interior, Federico González, is scheduled. This meeting will mark the beginning of the series of hearings with representatives of ministries and institutions.
Tentative agenda
Although it is the plenary session of the CBP that will confirm the agenda of informative hearings, the first meetings were tentatively set.
On Tuesday, September 13, at 10:00 am, the Minister of National Defense, Bernardino Soto Estigarribia; and at 2:00 pm, to the Minister of Justice, Edgar Olmedo Silva.
It should be noted that by virtue of the provisions of the National Constitution, in its article 216, the Bicameral Budget Commission has a period of no more than 60 days, once the project has been received, to present the opinion to the plenary of both chambers.
